What Do The Gauges On The Dash Mean

Vehicle manufacturers provide dash gauges to give drivers important information about their vehicle. A dash gauge can show when a problem exists. If we know what they are telling us, dash gauges can also let us know before a problem occurs. Understanding our dash gauges can help prevent many problems.

General Motors (GM) Speedometer Failure

Many owners of GM vehicles have experienced problems with their dash gauges. Speedometers, tachometers, fuel gauges and temperature gauges that are noisy, do not work, stick or read improperly. GM recalled many of their SUV and truck models for this problem. The recall is up to 70,000 miles, though most people will not see symptoms till 80,000 plus.

AGCO and Creative English Win Again

AGCO Automotive was awarded a Gold ADDY for its "Lay it on Lucy" radio campaign at the 2010 American Advertising Federation of Baton Rouge's ADDY Awards. The campaign was created and produced by local advertising agency, Creative English. The 2010 competition attracted 446 entries from Baton Rouge professionals and LSU students, and was judged by a panel of out-of-state advertising executives. Winners of the Baton Rouge awards are eligible to compete in the five-state District 7 competition in April, where winners then move to compete nationally in June.

Ford Spark Plug Breakage

Poorly thought out change can also be very costly, without providing benefits. The Ford two-piece spark plug is a good example of this. For whatever reason, Ford decided to build a two-piece spark plug and install it in millions of their V8 engines. The unlucky people that own such a vehicle may be in for a very expensive lesson.

AGCO Automotive Cruise And Better Technicians
On September 10th AGCO Automotive will once again take our staff and their spouses on a company cruise. Many people have asked if this is an incentive. Actually it is not an incentive at all. The entire staff goes and there are no predetermined criteria attached. Rather I consider it a reinforcement, for hard work and excellence and a team building exercise.

AGCO Digital Sign Is Complete

Our long planned digital reader board is finally a reality. When our new energy efficient LED sign replaced our storm damaged sign, plans were also made to add a digital reader board. In the old configuration, a fluorescent reader board displayed changeable letters.

Environmental Policies That Make Sense

The terms "environmentally friendly" and "green" have largely been exploited to the point of making folks feel ill. Anything can be pushed to the point of absurdity by those that stand to gain. There are serious business applications for energy saving products. Energy equals money and saving energy means saving money.

Ford Air Suspension Problems

The rear air suspension system on Lincoln and Ford vehicles is often maligned. Those who do not understand the system often speak of the cost of maintaining it. Others profit by selling conversion parts and creating undeserved fear. The facts do not bare out either position.

AGCO Memorial Day Remodel

When AGCO closes their doors for the Memorial Day break, there will still be a great deal of activity in the shop.  We will take this opportunity to kick off our next major remodel of our facility.

Construction of the 2009 AGCO Sign

Most folks in the Baton Rouge area are familiar with the AGCO Automotive sign. This sign has proudly represented our company since 1999, but was severely damaged in hurricane Gustav. With the severe damage and the aging technology, the decision was made to replace the sign with a more energy efficient design.

Where Do AGCO Technicians Come From

AGCO is often asked where we find our technicians.

The Best Way To Store a Vehicle

Fortunately, in South Louisiana, the weather is nice and vehicles can be driven year round. Still there may be times when it is necessary to store a vehicle, for a period of time. While storing a vehicle is always less desirable than driving it, there are measures that lessen the detrimental affects.

Using The AGCO Question and Answer Feature

One of the most useful parts of the AGCO website is the Vehicle Questions category.  Here you can find answers to hundreds of questions we have been asked over the years.  When an interesting question is emailed to us or asked on the radio program, we add it to our data base.  It's easy to use and provided without charge by AGCO automotive.

Should I Repair or Replace My Vehicle?

Sometimes older vehicles need major repair. A transmission, engine or possibly large air conditioner repair. Often when this occurs the first thought is, how much is the vehicle worth? The answer may have less to do with a book-value and far more to do with your needs.
