AGCO is often asked where we find our technicians. Many of our people have come to us by a third-party referral. Clients and vendors often recommend an outstanding technician they know. In some cases, on their recommendation the technician will submit a resume. Others find our website and become interested, still others come to us because of our reputation.
Whenever AGCO receives a resume, it is first reviewed and references checked. Once everything is checked, the applicant is called in for an interview. We look at experience, longevity on previous jobs and technical knowledge. Not all applicants will have the qualifications we require.
If all goes well, our program is explained and the applicant is given a tour of the shop. Here they meet our staff. Average time between approval of the resume and hiring may be two to three years. In this time, we stay in constant contact. Fortunately, most quality technicians are presently employed and simply looking for better opportunity.
Between being selected and actual hiring, applicants are treated like employees, except for reporting to work. They are invited to company functions and training classes. This helps us keep in touch and starts to build the team spirit we prize so highly. When the time comes to actually begin work, most people tell us they feel very much at home.
