Our long planned digital reader board is finally a reality. When our new energy efficient LED sign replaced our storm damaged sign, plans were also made to add a digital reader board. In the old configuration, a florescent reader board displayed changeable letters.
The florescent board consumed a great deal of energy and was difficult to maintain and change messages. The old board was removed and will be recycled for metal and electrical content. Next the new digital board is lifted into place.
These boards are self contained, with their own onboard computer to store messages. They also have a wireless interface allowing communication from our office based system.Because of the great weight involved, the sign is securely welded to the sign poles.
This LED sign allows us to change messages very easily. Messages can even be scheduled to play at certain times, days or seasons. Because the sign is totally digital, it also consumes much less electricity and will last far longer than the old florescent sign.
