The AGCO Automotive Idle radio campaign is nearing the end and has been our most successful ever.
The AGCO Automotive Idle contest was launched in early February of 2011. This is our most involved advertising campaign to date, combining radio, outdoor and web collaboration. It took more than a year to put all of the facets together.
Automotive Idle is a competition, where singing cars compete for the title of Automotive Idle. Jeff English of Creative English Agency created and coordinated the effort. This involved writing full length songs for each contestant, hiring talent, recording, editing and creating commercial messages.
A special section of the AGCO website is dedicated to information and the public is asked to vote for their favorites. The contest will end with a season finale’ in February 2012. After that time a new campaign will begin.
An outdoor bill board campaign was used to help direct folks to the website where they can cast their votes. At this time, Old Delta 88 is in the lead, but voting continues through February.
Meet the contestants:
In 2001, Old Delta 88 was lovingly restored by an owner here in Baton Rouge and regularly spent time enjoying preventative maintenance at AGCO. Sadly, he was sold in 2008 and today resides on a run down farm on the outskirts of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Old Delta cites Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker and AGCO owner, Louis Altazan as his inspirations.
They don't come much sleeker, sexier or even half as sassy as Ms. Crown Victoria. Known as Lady Vic by many of her automotive friends, when she's not out cruising the town, she can be found spending quality time with the guys down at AGCO, because they know how to keep her ride "oh so smooth."
Straight outta Detroit, MC Powertrain knows what it's like to live life on the streets. Growing up in the hood, he used his unique rhyming abilities to document the way cars were used and abused in his neighborhood. Powertrain's life took a positive turn when he was bought by a new owner, moved to Baton Rouge and met the team at AGCO. Today, he preaches the positive message of preventative maintenance. Word to your Motor.
With an owner in the military, for years King Cab truly called the road his home. Rolling through North Carolina, Georgia, California, New Mexico, Minnesota...Cab has lived life full throttle as he's rocked his way all across this great country. He's also racked up quite a few miles on his odometer and is glad to call Baton Rouge his home today where he gets great care from the crew at AGCO.
