Many years ago, AGCO began an involved search for an accurate tire pressure gauge. Every commercially available gauge we could find was not accurate or worse did not repeat. A good deal of research revealed a sad fact. The commercially available gauges we could find just were not adequate. It really did not seem to matter how much or how little they cost. Accuracy and repeatability problems were an issue.
This led us to build our own custom instruments, using test grade gauges. In order to evaluate and check our new gauges we also built a calibration stand and had it lab certified. This worked great, but the gauges were difficult to build, expensive and fragile.
Recently a possible alternative has come to our attention. A friend, traveling in Europe, came across a really nice air pressure gauge. He was so impressed, he bought one for us. We are currently testing the gauge and it shows great promise. We will keep everyone posted.
